Back to the States!
Following on from the success of our recent event in London last month we're happy to announce that the CodeIgniter Conference is back for more CodeIgniter-based antics! This time we'll be in San Francisco! We've got a new site, a new set of wonderful sponsors and early bird tickets will be ready shortly for those of you know just can't wait to reserve your place. Last time we very nearly sold out of tickets, so keep an eye out for them.
The event will be taking place in the wonderful Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. For those of you who attended the EECI2010 Conference you will remember this venue well. I had great fun there as an attendee and it seemed like a brilliant space, so considering I'd already done the ground-work I just went ahead and booked the place.
This is all thanks to the very early support from our first two wonderful sponsors: Skyclerk - a simple book-keeping application built with CodeIgniter - and eecoder - a team of incredibly skilled ExpressionEngine developers. Without their early support this conference might have taken a lot LOT longer to get rolling - or maybe not have even happened at all. Thanks guys!
So what can you expect?
Excellent Speakers
Each conference so far has had brilliant speakers, from core CodeIgniter developers to those who wrote the book, people from awesome companies like Pagoda Box and members from the community using CodeIgniter to do some interesting things.
A chance to get involved
So far we have a few speakers lined up already but we'd like to offer the community a chance to get involved before we announce a speakers list. Consider this a call for papers!
We are interested in having any speakers - well known or not - as long as you are patient about what you do and are able to share your passion with others. Do you build a product, web-service or some large-scale API site with CodeIgniter? Let us know, and suggest a topic you'd like to speak about. If you have experience then all the better!
Talks will be 45 minutes each and we'll have lightning talks too, so if you can only fill 5 or 10 minutes then that is absolutely fine. Get in touch with us as phil@ciconf.com if you are interested!
Great Networking
The last conferences have had some pretty fun evenings out and have provided a place for people to socialise and network. An evening sitting around tables in some boring bar? No thank you. Nerd Bowling? Yes please! That was fun.
We'll try to find something just as unique and interesting for this conference don't you worry.
Surprises
We announced a few awesome surprises at CICONF2011 in New York. Greg Aker from EllisLab announced that CodeIgniter was moving to GitHub and that saw the largest boom of code in the history of CodeIgniter. That code? All written by attendees of the CICONF2011 event. We even gave a iPad to the most active contributor. Hopefully we can do something similar this time - maybe a nice shiny new iPad for whoever sends in the most unit tests?
This year Pagoda Box offered out some exclusive promotional codes to give early access to features that nobody else had. Epic.
Buy a ticket
If you're interested in grabbing a ticket now you really should get them while they are available as Early Bird.
